The journal operates a double-blind peer review process. All submissions are initially assessed by the editors, which decides whether or not the article fits the scope of the journal and is suitable for peer review. Submissions considered suitable are assigned to two independent expert reviewers. Those reviewers are selected by the editors in order to ensure that the selection is free from bias. No reviewers may belong to the same institution, faculty or research group as the author(s) of the manuscript. They assess the article for clarity, methodology/data analysis and validity of conclusions. A meta reviewer is also chosen among the members of the editorial committee. His / her responsibility is to oversee the process of reviewing and to alert the Advisory Board in case of a problem.
Based on the reviewer reports the editors will make a recommendation for acceptance, major or minor revision or rejection. Overall editorial responsibility rests with the journal’s Editor-in-Chief, who is supported by the international Advisory Board.
